How weight-based dosing works
Published starting-point guidance for CBD and dogs is almost always expressed per unit of body weight, because a 10 lb terrier and a 90 lb shepherd are working with very different bodies. This calculator uses the commonly published weight-based tiers — 0.05 mg per lb for the low tier, 0.125 mg per lb for medium, and 0.25 mg per lb for strong — and multiplies your dog's weight by the tier you select. These are starting-point ranges people commonly use, not prescriptions, and individual dogs vary.
The second half of the tool is unit translation. Pet CBD oils are labelled by total milligrams per bottle, so a 250 mg / 30 ml oil works out to about 8.3 mg per ml. A standard dropper holds roughly 1 ml, which is about 20 drops — so the calculator converts the daily milligrams into an approximate ml and drop count for the strength you choose.
