CBN Oil from Honest Botanicals
CBN, or Cannabinol, is one of many cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. CBN comes from the breakdown of the psychoactive cannabinoid THC. It’s mildly psychoactive, but it generally doesn’t produce a high like THC.
Here are some of the common uses and potential benefits of CBN:
Benefits of CBN Oil
While the research on CBN is limited, studies do exist suggesting that it offers several benefits. CBN may be able to improve the following health conditions:
- Sleep. Many people report that CBN helps them sleep. There has been one older study conducted on CBN we could find regarding this, and while it is older (1975), it showed participants given a combination of THC and CBN experienced stronger sedative effects than with THC alone.
- Pain Relief. A 2019 study using rats found that both CBD and CBN were able to reduce myofascial pain in rats. A combination of CBN and CBD was even more effective than either alone. The researchers concluded that CBN and CBD may be able to relieve pain from temporomandibular disorders and fibromyalgia.
- Anti-Inflammatory Effects. There’s some evidence in rats that CBN may help treat inflammation caused by arthritis. However, as with all studies using animal subjects, further human trials are needed.
- Neuroprotective Effects. One older 2005 rat study found that CBN was able to delay the onset of Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS). However, it’s not clear at this time if it has the same effects on humans.
Will CBN get me high?
No, CBN won’t get you high. Like CBD, Cannabinol is mildly psychoactive but not psychotropic. As a sedative, CBN may make you more sleepy so it’s best to follow safety precautions regarding wakefulness.
