Guideline to CBD Edibles

We carry two types of edibles: Straight CBD edibles and others that are a 1:1 ratio of CBD:THC

We’ll start with the CBD edibles, and begin by letting you know that a CBD gummy does not have the ability to get you ‘high’. CBD is a part of the cannabis plant that is non-psychoactive, so there is no danger of intoxication from a straight CBD edible.

We also carry 1:1 CBD:THC edibles. These are half CBD, half THC – THC is the part of the plant that induces those feelings of being ‘high’ so if you’re new to edibles, proceed with caution!

That’s not to say you can’t take them to reap their painkilling benefits, it’s really all about starting with a very low dose and working your way up slowly until you find that sweet spot. We’ll talk more about dosing with edibles below.

Edibles have come a long way since their beginnings, which really consisted of pot brownies and cookies. Now, there’s a huge selection from gummies to chocolate and everything in between. Many of our clients choose a CBD edible for two reasons: it’s convenient and it’s also delicious. Edibles are always easily broken up into manageable doses, so you know exactly how much you’re getting every time. Not everybody likes the taste of cannabis, and edibles are a great choice for those people! How To Take Edibles

When using straight CBD edibles, you have some wiggle room when it comes to dosing. There are no reported adverse reactions to taking CBD, so don’t worry if you take a bit more than you usually do, it won’t harm you at all!

When using the 1:1 CBD:THC edibles, this is where we advise newcomers to start low and go slow, because that THC can get you high. This means starting with a low dose – 5 mg or less. If you’re nervous about ingesting THC, try taking it in the evening, when you’re in for the night. These types of edibles can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours to kick in, so it’s not recommended to take a second dose in the same evening if you’re just starting out.

We’re not trying to scare you – the combination of CBD and THC is truly an incredible relaxant, sleep aid, and pain killer, and most people suffering from severe sleep or pain issues find they prefer the 1:1 edible. It is just important to know your dose when starting any cannabis regimen!

Q: How much should I take of a CBD edible?

A: Check out our CBD dosage guide to help you figure out what dose is best for you to begin with. One thing to keep in mind is that success with CBD is really all about finding the dose that works for you as an individual, and that usually requires some experimentation. After a few days at your recommended dose, feel free to increase by about half again if you are not seeing the results you’re looking for. In this way, and always waiting a few days before increasing again, you should come across the dose that works for you!

Q: How much should I take of the 1:1 edibles?

A: Because these edibles contain THC, it’s important to start low (about 5 mg) and go slow when increasing your dose. Never double dose in the same night as a beginner, as THC can take up to a few hours to kick it. After a few days at 5 mg, increase by about half again. In this way again, you’ll be able to find the dose that works for you.

Q: I have chronic pain, which edible is best for me?

A: We do find that our clients dealing with pain have better results when using a product that contains both CBD and some THC, as THC is a powerful pain killer.

Q: What about if I have anxiety?

A: Because THC can amplify the feelings of anxiousness in some, we recommend starting with a straight CBD edible, or a low strength Full Spectrum CBD Oil edible.
